Job Description: Deputy Residential Home Manager

SureCare Residential provide short and long-term residential services for young people aged from 11 - 18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties, in a therapeutic homely environment. SureCare has now been established for over 10 years and we currently have 5 homes (Two in Braintree and one in each of Sawbridgeworth, Harlow and Saffron Walden) and an independent school, which are all consistently well rated with Ofsted. Our aim is to support our young people to grow self-esteem and build positive relationships. We focus on being able to re-engage young people in education and help them to achieve in building a brighter future.

We are currently recruiting for a deputy residential home manager. Within this role you will be responsible for supporting the homes manager with the day to day operational running of the home, coaching and guidance to our staff and helping to achieve and sustain a high level of care provision to our young people.

As the environment will be ever changing and challenging, we need a very robust & resilient individual who understands this client group of often complex children. Our young people require patience & understanding to build positive relationships. We are looking for the right person who can lead, inspire and motivate a team of people to support, manage and develop themselves and the young people within this service.

The role requires a knowledgeable & dynamic individual who can use their previous experience, understanding of children’s residential service, and organisational skills to ensure the home continues to thrive. You will be required to demonstrate practical leadership skills, expert communication, and the ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment whilst following all current legislations and SureCare’s own policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a solid career history in children’s residential social care, including at least 1-2 years experience in a senior/deputy manager role and a minimum of lv.3 QCF in health & social care (working with children/young people)

Deputy Residential Home Manager Requirements

* Have a level 3 NVQ/QCF or equivalent within Children and Young People (ideally lv.5)

* Have experience working in an EBD young people's residential home.

* Have experience of leading staff and decision making in a residential setting.

* Excellent organisational skills.

* Ability to use initiative with effective decision making.

* Ability to deal with conflict/crisis situations effectively and in a therapeutic manner when managing both young people and staff.

* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary consultative team with other internal & external professionals.

* Effective communications skill to disseminate information.

* Sound knowledge of residential guidelines including; quality standards, care standards act, children's home regulations and the children's act.

* Are passionate about developing our future generation.

* Are dedicated and committed to empowering young people to achieve their full potential.

* Are compassionate and reflective.

* Have the ability to remain calm and professional when a young person is in a crisis.

* Are solution focused.

* Are flexible and responsive in order to meet the needs of our young people which can change day to day.

* Have a valid driving license.

Responsibilities

* Supporting/guiding project workers and seniors within their roles, leading shifts when needed, providing supervision and ongoing training.

* Providing person centered support to young people with all aspects of their daily lives within a homely environment.

* Providing encouragement to all young people to work towards achieving their goals.

* Provide security and safety to young people.

* Build trusting and lasting relationships with young people.

* Working closely with Management team and outside agencies to ensure the young people receive the best possible care and support
